(1) An authorised
person may use assistance and force that is reasonably necessary in the
circumstances when exercising a power under this Act.
(2) However, if the
use of reasonable force is likely to cause significant damage to property, the
authorised person is not entitled to use force without the authority of the
Building Commissioner in the particular case.
(3) An authorised
person may request a police officer or other person to assist the authorised
person in exercising powers under this Act.
(4) While a person is
assisting an authorised person at the request of the authorised person and in
accordance with this Act, the person —
(a) has
the same powers; and
(b) is
subject to the same responsibilities; and
(c) has
the same protection from liability,
as in like
circumstances would be conferred or imposed on an authorised officer under
this Act.
(5) Nothing in this
section derogates from the powers of a police officer.
