(1) The authorising
officer may vary an authority —
(a) at
any time on the authorising officer’s own initiative; or
(b) on
application under section 19(1).
(2) However, a
variation cannot be made that has the effect of extending the period of
validity of an urgent authority.
(3) The authorising
officer must, as soon as practicable after varying an authority, prepare and
give to the principal law enforcement officer for the authorised operation a
written document that complies with section 21.
