(1) The powers in this
section may be exercised at any time before a jury gives its verdict.
(2) The judge may
discharge a juror from a jury if satisfied that the juror should not be
required or allowed to continue in the jury and if the discharge will leave at
least 10 jurors remaining.
(3) If a juror is
discharged under subsection (2) the verdict of the remaining 10 or more jurors
has the same effect as if the whole jury had continued to be present.
(4) The discharge of a
juror from a jury does not affect any duty of the juror to attend under the
Juries Act 1957 .
