(1) The State
Emergency Coordinator may issue an identification card to an authorised
officer —
(a)
containing the individual’s name and a photograph or digital image of
the person; and
(b)
stating that the person is an authorised officer for the purposes of this Act.
(2) An authorised
officer should —
(a)
carry his or her identification card while performing functions under this
Act; and
(b) if
it is practicable to do so, produce it before exercising a power of an
authorised officer under this Act.
(3) An authorised
officer who has been issued with an identification card and who ceases to be
an authorised officer is to return the identification card to the State
Emergency Coordinator or a person nominated by the State Emergency Coordinator
as soon as is practicable.
(4) A person who
contravenes subsection (3) without reasonable excuse, the onus of proving
which is on the person, commits an offence.
Penalty: a fine of $1 000.
