(1) For the purposes
of COVID-19 management while a COVID-19 declaration is in force, a police
officer may direct the owner, occupier or the person apparently in charge of
any place of business, worship or entertainment in the declaration area to
close that place to the public for the period specified in the direction.
(2) A direction under
subsection (1) may be given in relation to a class of place.
(3) Subject to
subsection (4), while a COVID-19 declaration is in force a police officer may
exercise any of the powers of an authorised COVID-19 officer under
section 77L.
(4) A police officer
must not exercise a power under subsection (3) in a manner that is contrary to
or in conflict with —
(a) a
direction given to the police officer by the State Emergency Coordinator; or
(b) the
exercise of a power by an authorised COVID-19 officer under section 77L.
(5) When exercising
powers under this section a police officer has all the immunities of an
authorised COVID-19 officer.
