(1) If a court
convicts a person of any offence against this Act, the court may order the
offender to pay an additional penalty of an amount not exceeding the
court’s estimation of the amount of any monetary benefits acquired by
the offender, or accrued or accruing to the offender, as a result of the
commission of the offence.
(2) In this section
—
monetary benefits means —
(a)
monetary, financial or economic benefits of any kind; and
(b)
monetary savings, or a reduction in expenditure, achieved by the avoidance of
charges, fees or other costs that would have been incurred by the offender if
the offender had not committed the offence.
