(1) An offence under
this Act, the Betting Control Act 1954 or any other written law relating to
gambling may be prosecuted at any time.
(2) The conviction or
acquittal of a person on a charge of an offence under this Act, the
Betting Control Act 1954 or any other written law relating to gambling shall
not prevent a further prosecution and conviction in respect of a continuation
of that offence after the date on which he was convicted or acquitted.
(3) Proceedings for an
offence under this Act or the Betting Control Act 1954 may be instituted by a
member of the Police Force or by a person authorised in writing by the
Commission to institute those proceedings in a particular case.
(4) If proceedings for
an offence under this Act or the Betting Control Act 1954 are instituted by a
member of the Police Force, the Commissioner of Police shall notify the
Commission in writing of —
(a) the
name of the person or persons against whom the proceedings have been
instituted; and
(b) the
offence or offences alleged in the proceedings; and
(c) the
result of the proceedings.
