Where several persons
charged with the same offence are put on trial together and do not consent to
join in their challenges, the proper officer of the court shall draw out of
the ballot-box a sufficient number of cards to permit each of the several
persons, or each combination of those persons who consent to challenge jointly
to exercise the right of peremptory challenge to the appropriate number
prescribed by section 104(4) of the Criminal Procedure Act 2004 .
