(1) A person is
disqualified for membership of a council if the person is a member of a
parliament.
(2) In this section
—
member of a parliament means —
(a) a
member of the Legislative Assembly; or
(b) a
member of the Legislative Council, including a person who has been elected as
a member of that House but is not yet entitled to sit or vote in that House
because of section 8(2) of the Constitution Acts Amendment Act 1899 ; or
(c) a
member of the House of Representatives; or
(d) a
senator, including a person who has been elected as a senator but whose term
of service as a senator has not yet begun.
