(1) Up to 7 days prior
to the time of the actual sale of any land for non-payment of rates or service
charges a person having an estate or interest in the land may pay the rates or
service charges and the costs and expenses incurred to that time in
proceedings relating to the proposed sale.
(2) At any time after
the 7 days referred to in subsection (1) but prior to the time of the actual
sale of any land the local government may, upon such terms and conditions as
are agreed between the parties, accept payment of the outstanding rates or
service charges.
(3) On payment being
made under subsection (1) or (2) the proceedings relating to the proposed sale
are stayed and the local government is required to make such notifications and
take such measures as are prescribed in relation to the payment and the
cancellation of the proposed sale.
