(1) If an authorised
officer is of the opinion that an instrument lodged for registration contains
an error or defect, the authorised officer is —
(a) if
satisfied that the error or defect can be corrected, to accept the instrument
for provisional lodgment; or
(b) in
any other case, to reject the instrument and endorse the register accordingly.
(2) The regulations
may provide for the effect to be given to an instrument accepted for
provisional lodgment.
