(1) The Chief
Magistrate is the principal judicial officer of the Court.
(2) For administrative
purposes, the Chief Magistrate —
(a) may
establish and disestablish one or more divisions of the Court to deal with a
specific class or classes of case, whether throughout the State or at a
particular place; and
(b) may
designate and change the designation of any such division.
(3) Without limiting
subsection (2) the Chief Magistrate may establish a division of the Court to
deal with a specific class of offender if he or she considers that the
interests of such offenders or of the community warrant such offenders being
dealt with separately from other offenders.
(4) The Chief
Magistrate is responsible for directing the professional development and
training of magistrates, the Principal Registrar, the registrars and the
deputy registrars.
