(1) This section
applies in relation to a child who has reached 14 years of age but is under 18
years of age and is a voluntary patient.
(2) A medical
practitioner can perform electroconvulsive therapy on the child if —
(a)
informed consent is given to the electroconvulsive therapy being performed;
and
(b) the
Mental Health Tribunal approves under Part 21 Division 6 the electroconvulsive
therapy being performed; and
(c) in
performing the electroconvulsive therapy, the medical practitioner has regard
to the guidelines published under section 547(1)(f) for that purpose.

the child or the child’s parent or guardian can give informed consent
(see sections 14 and 15).
