In this Part —
appellant , in relation to an appeal instituted
under section 33ZI, means the person who institutes the appeal;
Chief Commissioner has the same meaning as it has
in the Industrial Relations Act 1979 ;
disputed decision has the meaning given in
section 33ZI(2);
industrial Commissioner has the same meaning as
commissioner has in the Industrial Relations Act 1979 ;
medical practitioner means a person registered
under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Western Australia) in
the medical profession;
medically unfit , in relation to a member, means
the member is unfit, on medical grounds (whether physical or mental or both),
to perform the functions of the office to which the member is appointed under
this Act;
member means —
(a) a
commissioned officer;
(b) a
non-commissioned officer;
(c) a
constable;
(d) an
Aboriginal police liaison officer;
(e) a
police auxiliary officer;
Police Commissioner means the Commissioner of
Police;
retire , in relation to a member, means retire
from the office to which the member is appointed under this Act;
retirement day , in relation to a member, means
the day at the end of which the member’s retirement on medical grounds
takes effect under section 33ZE(10)(b);
Senior Commissioner has the same meaning as it has
in the Industrial Relations Act 1979 ;
WAIRC means The Western Australian Industrial
Relations Commission continued and constituted under the Industrial Relations
Act 1979 .
