(1) A person other
than a person who holds, or on behalf of whom is held, a pawnbroker’s
licence must not hold himself or herself out as being, or pretend to be, or
make use of any words or letters or any name, title, abbreviation, or
description that implies or tends to encourage the belief that he or she is a
pawnbroker.
(2) A person other
than a person who holds, or on behalf of whom is held, a second-hand
dealer’s licence must not hold himself or herself out as being, or
pretend to be, or make use of any words or letters or any name, title,
abbreviation, or description that implies or tends to encourage the belief
that he or she is a second-hand dealer.
Penalty for an individual: $5 000 and 12
months’ imprisonment.
Penalty for a body corporate: $20 000.
