(1) If a person who
has pawned goods to a pawnbroker is unable to redeem the goods because the
pawnbroker’s licence has been subsequently suspended, revoked or not
renewed, the State Administrative Tribunal may, on the application of any
person, make such orders as it thinks fit in relation to conducting business
at the premises for the purpose of redeeming the goods.
(2) Nothing in
subsection (1) affects any power of a licensing officer or the State
Administrative Tribunal in relation to licences.
(3) A person must not,
without reasonable excuse, refuse or fail to comply with an order under this
section.
Penalty: In the case of an individual, $5 000 and
12 months’ imprisonment or, in the case of a body corporate, $20 000.
