(1) If a responsible
person for a motor cycle who is given a surrender notice surrenders the motor
cycle according to the notice, the motor cycle must be impounded for a period
that commences at the time when the motor cycle is surrendered.
(2) If a responsible
person for a motor cycle who is given a surrender notice fails to surrender
the motor cycle according to the notice, the motor cycle must be impounded for
a period that commences at the time when a police officer takes possession of
the motor cycle for the purpose of impounding it.
(3) A person who is
given a surrender notice in relation to a motor cycle commits an offence if
the person fails to comply with the notice.
Penalty for this subsection: a fine of 50 PU.
(4) A person who is
given a surrender notice in relation to a motor cycle commits an offence if,
without the authority of a court order, the person —
(a)
disposes of an interest that the person has in the motor cycle; or
(b) does
anything, or causes or permits another person to do anything, that results or
will result in a reduction in the value of the motor cycle.
Penalty for this subsection: a fine of 50 PU.
