(1) A person may
resign from office as the President by giving the Governor a signed letter of
resignation.
(2) A resignation is
not effective until the Governor has accepted it.
(3) If a resignation
is accepted it takes effect when it is accepted or at any later date stated in
the letter.
(4) A person who has
resigned from office as the President is not precluded from again being
appointed to the office.
(5) The person who
holds office as the President does so during good behaviour but the Governor
may, on the address of both Houses of Parliament, terminate the person’s
term of office.
(6) If the person who
holds office as the President becomes ineligible, because of section 108(3),
to hold the office, the person’s term of office terminates.
