(1) The chief officer
of an eligible authority is to cause a restricted record (whether made before
or after the commencement of section 35 of the Commonwealth Act) that is in
the possession of the authority to be kept, except when it is being otherwise
dealt with in accordance with the Commonwealth Act and this Act, in a secure
place where it is not accessible to persons other than persons who are
entitled so to deal with it.
(2) The chief officer
of an eligible authority is to cause a restricted record of a kind referred to
in subsection (1) to be destroyed forthwith if the chief officer is satisfied
that the restricted record is not likely to be required for a permitted
purpose in relation to the authority, other than a purpose connected with an
inspection of the kind referred to in section 10 or with a report on such an
inspection.
