(1) A person
responsible for a livestock animal undertaking a transport process must, if
the livestock animal is moribund, ensure that it is destroyed at the first
reasonable opportunity using a method of humane destruction.
Penalty for this subregulation: a fine of
$15 000.
(2) For the purposes
of subregulation (1), a livestock animal is moribund if —
(a) it
is unable to stand and exhibits signs of distress or insensibility; and
(b) it
appears to have little chance of regaining the capacity to stand and walk
unassisted after reasonable attempts have been made to assist the livestock
animal.
