The following persons
have a duty to give notice about a person who has acute rheumatic fever or
rheumatic heart disease (the patient ) —
(a) if
the patient is a patient of a hospital — the chief executive
officer of the hospital;
(b) if
the patient is a patient of a medical centre — the chief executive
officer of the medical centre;
(c) a
medical practitioner or nurse practitioner, as is relevant, who —
(i)
diagnoses the patient with acute rheumatic fever or
rheumatic heart disease; or
(ii)
is responsible for the treatment of the patient for acute
rheumatic fever or rheumatic heart disease;
(d) if
the patient is pregnant — an obstetrician responsible for the
treatment of the patient who becomes aware that the patient has acute
rheumatic fever or rheumatic heart disease.
