(1) If any portion of
the load or equipment on a light vehicle projects in a manner that it would
not be readily visible to any person following immediately behind the vehicle,
the driver of the vehicle must —
(a) mark
the end of the load or equipment, by means of a brightly coloured flag or
piece of material, with each side at least 300 mm long, so that it is
clearly visible to persons in its vicinity; or
(b) at
night‑time, fit to the extreme end of the load or equipment a light
showing a clear red light to the rear, visible at a distance of 200 m.

Subregulation (1) is not a requirement for the definition of warning
requirement in section 51.
