(1) After the close of
voting the returning officer is to open the ballot box, and examine and count
the ballot papers.
(2) The returning
officer is to reject any ballot paper that —
(a) does
not bear the initials of the returning officer; or
(b) is
not marked in accordance with these regulations.
(3) The votes are to
be counted in accordance with Schedules 1 and 2 of the
Electoral Act 1907 as in force at the commencement of these regulations.
