(1) The chief
executive officer may conduct or approve the conduct of, examinations leading
to the grant of a certificate of proficiency in the operation of pleasure
vessels.
(2) An applicant for a
certificate of proficiency must have passed an examination referred to in
subregulation (1) to the satisfaction of the chief executive officer.
(3) An applicant for a
certificate of proficiency shall make and submit to the Department a written
application giving the particulars required.
(4) The fee set out in
Schedule 3 in respect of the issue of a certificate of proficiency is not
payable by a full‑time student at a secondary school or at a college
established under section 35 of the
Vocational Education and Training Act 1996 .
