(1) The Board may
request, by notice in writing given to an applicant for registration, that the
applicant provide written consent for the Board to undertake a criminal record
check in respect of the applicant.
(2) Notice to an
applicant under subsection (1) is to state that the consent and the fee
for conducting the check, if any, specified in the notice is to be given to
the Board within 14 days of the notice being given, or such later time as
is specified in the notice.
(3) If consent for the
Board to undertake a criminal record check, together with any fee for
conducting the check specified in the notice, is not given to the Board by an
applicant within the time stated in a notice given to the applicant under
subsection (1), the Board may refuse the application.
