(1) In this
section —
“medical practitioner” does not
include an interstate practitioner or a defence force medical officer.
(2) The Board is to
establish a committee to be known as the impairment review committee.
(3) The impairment
review committee is to consist of 2 persons, one of whom must be a
medical practitioner, appointed in writing by the Board from time to time.
(4) A member of the
impairment review committee is to be —
(a) a
member of the Board; or
(b) a
member of the panel referred to in section 82.
(5) The Board is to
appoint a member of the impairment review committee to be the
committee’s chairperson.
(6) A decision
supported by both members of the impairment review committee is the decision
of the committee.
(7) If the members of
the committee disagree as to any matter that is being dealt with by the
committee, the committee’s report to the Board must include details of
the disagreement and the reasons for it.
(8) A meeting of the
impairment review committee is not open to members of the public.
