This legislation has been repealed.
(1) Every motor
vehicle manufactured on or after 1 July 1974 and capable of being driven at a
speed in excess of 40 kilometres per hour on a level road shall be fitted with
a speedometer which shall give an indication of the vehicle speed on a single
scale calibrated in kilometres per hour.
(2) The instrument
referred to in subregulation (1) —
(a)
shall have such a degree of accuracy that the indicated speed is not less than
the actual speed by more than 10% when the vehicle speed is greater than 50
kilometres per hour; and
(b)
shall be so fitted that it is readily visible to the driver.
