PN18
THE SENIOR DEPUTY PRESIDENT: Any changes in the appearances in this matter?
PN19
MR M. FLETCHER: If the Commission pleases, I appear on behalf of members of the Australian Business Industrial I respond to the award.
PN20
THE SENIOR DEPUTY PRESIDENT: Mr Maxwell, what's the position with this?
PN21
MR MAXWELL: Thank you, your Honour, this award is in a similar position to the other awards before you this morning. Unfortunately the parties didn't get to meet to discuss this matter until Friday. At that meeting the parties agreed on a timetable to progress the matter subject to the approval of the Commission. In particular we agreed to meet on 7 August and again on 28 August to try and reach agreement on a new draft award and to then come back to the Commission to report back on the progress made some time after the week beginning 3 September.
PN22
As you would be aware, we have programmed the meetings with the Roof Slaters and Tilers Award and the Mobile Crane Hiring Award before that so this is a type of lockstepped approach to deal with these awards given that there are a lot of common players to the awards, so it makes it a difficult job the number of awards at the same time. So subject to what the other parties may have to say and the views of the Commission we will be seeking a report back some time after the week beginning 3 September. If the Commission pleases.
PN23
THE SENIOR DEPUTY PRESIDENT: Mr Sherman.
PN24
MR SHERMAN: Yes, your Honour, we confer with the programming set forward by the CFMEU.
PN25
THE SENIOR DEPUTY PRESIDENT: Mr Thomas.
PN26
MR THOMAS: We too concur with that program, your Honour.
PN27
THE SENIOR DEPUTY PRESIDENT: Mr Fletcher.
PN28
MR FLETCHER: Your Honour, we agree with the programming as set out.
PN29
THE SENIOR DEPUTY PRESIDENT: Would 10.30 on 4 September suit the parties? This matter will be adjourned to 10.30 am on 4 September this year in Sydney for the purpose of further report and if necessary programming of hearings should there be any matters arising out of the discussions between the parties that require arbitration by the Commission. Is there anything else for the record at this stage?
ADJOURNED UNTIL 4 SEPTEMBER 2001 [12.08pm]
