PN1
HIS HONOUR: Can I have the appearances, please?
PN2
MS B. SCARFI: If the Commission pleases, I appear on behalf of Qantas Airways Limited.
PN3
HIS HONOUR: Thank you, Ms Scarfi. I apologise for the delay in the commencement this afternoon. It's a busy day, I think, in the airline industry and Australia, but I appreciate you have also got many commitments today. So this matter has been brought on for mention and report; can you tell me what stage has been reached with the matter, Ms Scarfi?
PN4
MS SCARFI: Your Honour, this matter is not one that I have had any involvement with. Mr Mills, from our office has got carriage of the matter. Unfortunately, Mr Mills at the last moment today was not able to make it. Now, I understand from discussions with Mr Mills and also with Mr Ryan from the ALAEA that they have been attempting to meet to try and resolve the differences. I know that there are still a number of outstanding issues but they haven't been able to progress it further. What the status is, I don't know fully, I think that there are still probably quite a few issues that are still outstanding.
PN5
HIS HONOUR: Yes. So what - in the circumstances it should be listed again, should it?
PN6
MS SCARFI: Yes, I believe so, your Honour.
PN7
HIS HONOUR: And what time period?
PN8
MS SCARFI: I would say at your Honour's convenience but I would say probably - maybe in a few weeks. I know in speaking to Mr Ryan - and he contacted me on my way to the Commission this afternoon and he said that he's fairly busy or flat out at the moment because he's got the carriage of a number of other matters that are going on in the industry. So when your Honour has some available time and I'll bring that to the attention of both Mr Ryan and Mr Mills.
PN9
HIS HONOUR: Yes. Well, what I'll do is endeavour to have the matter listed again in about a month's time and if you could advise Mr Mills and Mr Ryan about the need for some progress with the matter, and indicate that the Commission will re-list the matter for report back and any other action that needs to be taken in about a months time.
PN10
MS SCARFI: Okay. Thank you, your Honour.
PN11
HIS HONOUR: Good, thank you.
ADJOURNED INDEFINITELY [3.40pm]
