PN43
THE SENIOR DEPUTY PRESIDENT: Are there any changes in appearances in this matter?
PN44
MR S. WOOD: Yes, sir, if the Commission pleases, I appear for the Australian Workers Union.
PN45
THE SENIOR DEPUTY PRESIDENT: Thank you, Mr Wood. Who is reporting on the present position?
PN46
MS COTIS: Thank you, your Honour. Since we were last before you, your Honour, the parties have got together on three occasions to have further discussions in relation to the simplification of this award. Arising from those discussions, the AIG has produced a draft award which we are still working through.
PN47
The unions have also very recently formed a working party in order to make further progress on this matter, and the working party proposed to meet with the AIG next week in order to set a further timetable to deal with all the outstanding issues that remain. We would therefore be seeking to get a further report back from you, possibly in mid-February if that is suitable to you.
PN48
THE SENIOR DEPUTY PRESIDENT: Does anyone wish to comment on that? How would Wednesday, 20 February suit?
PN49
MS COTIS: That is fine with us, your Honour.
PN50
MR WOOD: That would be fine, your Honour.
PN51
THE SENIOR DEPUTY PRESIDENT: The matter will be adjourned until 10 am on 20 February 2002 in Sydney. In the meantime, however, I would direct that the AMWU is to provide by 14 December of this year with a copy of any timetable agreed upon between the parties, or perhaps I shouldn't say any timetable agreed upon, I should direct the parties to agree upon a timetable and direct the AMWU to provide me with a copy of it by 14 December.
PN52
I would anticipate that in this matter that on 20 February next year if there are outstanding matters, then we can put in place a program for determining those matters because this matter has now been before the Commission for some substantial period of time and needs to be brought to some finality. The matter is adjourned on that basis and the Commission itself is adjourned.
ADJOURNED UNTIL WEDNESDAY, 20 FEBRUARY 2002 [10.08am]
