EXTRACT OF TRANSCRIPT OF PROCEEDINGS [4.00pm]
PN1
THE COMMISSIONER: It is my direction that the parties confer as soon as practicable about the matters in dispute and whilst those negotiations are being conducted, it's my further direction that no industrial action take place, not only while the negotiations are taking place but there shouldn't be any industrial action simply in terms of the dispute settling procedure contained in the certified agreement.
PN2
It's not necessary to go on strike to get the Commission's attention to become involved in these matters and the Commission is available to chair conferences if in the initial period those conferences break down. So it's clearly my expectation that normal work will continue whilst the discussions are taking place. If those discussions are not satisfactory to either side, I would ask to be advised about that and the Commission will make arrangements for further conciliation to take place under its auspices.
