Hearing Continuing
PN67
THE SENIOR DEPUTY PRESIDENT: I see at least one appearance is the same. Yes, Mr Beard?
PN68
MR G. BEARD: Thank you, your Honour. This matter was last before you on 9 January, and at that stage I explained to you that the union had received a document from the employers represented by Mr Gotterson in regard to developing a new award for the Ten Pin Bowling industry.
PN69
I can advise you that the union then forwarded a fairly detailed response to Mr Gotterson, and at this stage I'm still waiting for a formal response from him. He did contact me this morning to advise that due to the nature of today's report back, he wouldn't be in a position to take the matter much further, however, he has stated to me that he will forward a response later this week. I believe that the parties aren't very far apart from agreement in regard to this matter, however, there may be a couple of issues, your Honour, that may need to be subject to a conference chaired by yourself.
PN70
I believe at this stage that a good deal of progress has been made in regard to the matter, however, we would require some further time for the additional discussions to occur. So, again, your Honour, I would be asking for the matter to be listed for report-back and/or conciliation as required. It may be pertinent to go off the record, your Honour, and have a look at an appropriate date.
OFF THE RECORD
PN71
THE SENIOR DEPUTY PRESIDENT: I note that we have had a brief discussion off the record with Mr Beard. Mr Gotterson, who was the solicitor for the respondents, does apologise for his non-appearance this morning having regard to the nature of the report-back. What we will do is simply adjourn the matter for report-back and/or conciliation at 11.45am on Thursday, 21 March in Sydney. This matter will be adjourned until that time and the Commission will be adjourned to a later hour this morning. Thank you.
ADJOURNED UNTIL THURSDAY, 21 MARCH 2002 [10.51am]
