MS MARTINI: Sir, this application is to vary the Community Access Services of South Australia Inc Award 2000. We are seeking to increase salaries consistent with the Safety Net Review Wages Decision of May 2003 print PR002003 and to increase allowances consistent with the Furnishing and Glass Industries Allowance Decision and statement of principles. Commissioner, I have a draft order prepared. A copy of the application, notice of listing and draft order were served on the respondent prior to the hearing.
PN7
The key classification level for this award is access worker level 4. The applicable increase of $17 a week equating to 887 per annum or $15 a week equating to 782 per annum have been applied to the relevant classification levels. The work-related allowances have also been increased using the furnishing and Glass Industries Allowance Decision and that increase was 3.24 per cent. We are also applying to have the meal allowance and travel expenses varied and they have been varied in accordance with the CPI, the meal allowance using the meals out and takeaway food or groups index CPI which is a 3.03 per cent increase and the travelling expenses are in line with the private motoring all groups index which is 5.31 per cent increase.
PN8
The ASU gives the commitment regarding absorption as required in 8D of the statement of principles. This award does not contain supported wage provisions and, sir, we would ask that the variations take effect from the first pay period on or after 30 June 2003 which is 12 months since the 2002 safety net adjustment. If the Commission pleases.
PN9
THE SENIOR DEPUTY PRESIDENT: Thank you, Ms Martini. Ms Jones?
PN10
MS JONES: Commissioner, the variations to the award as outlined by the ASU are supported by Community Access Services.
PN11
THE SENIOR DEPUTY PRESIDENT: Thank you. I'm satisfied that the requisite undertakings have been provided in accordance with the requirements of the principles in the May 2003 Safety Net Decision. I will vary the award in accordance with the terms of the draft order provided to me today. That variation will come into effect from the beginning of the first pay period commencing on or after 30 June 2003 and will remain in force for a period of 6 months. The order when finally issued will be sent to the parties. I might warn the parties it may be a week or so before it arrives. I will adjourn the matter on that basis.
ADJOURNED INDEFINITELY [2.37pm]
