EXTRACT OF TRANSCRIPT OF PROCEEDINGS
PN1
THE COMMISSIONER: If I miss anything that I have said in conference, please feel free to stop me and let me know.
PN2
There have been some discussions between the parties both with and without the Commission and it is the Commission's recommendation that at this stage in this application there is some room for further discussions. The Commission makes the following recommendation: that work proceed normally at the plant using the components of the brackets that are already at the work site and that if need be another bracket be manufactured by the union labour at the work site. As to the matter of using crucible trolley, if the crucible trolley arrives on the site it is to be used. In the short period after the adjournment of this matter and before the parties all bolt out of town, they are to set a timetable for intensive discussions to take place about the issue of, among other things, contracting processes at the plant.
PN3
Now, the Commission is prepared to make itself available at short notice as much as is humanly possible if the parties need further assistance. I believe these matters can be sorted out between the parties with discussion and a bit of good will on both sides. I make no comment about industrial disputation or action at other sites, that is not before the Commission, indeed it is before another member of the Commission so it is not for me to comment. I wish the parties good luck. If I can help you I will make myself available.
PN4
Do you have anything to say, Mr Addison?
PN5
MR ADDISON: Yes, sir. That is my understanding of the recommendation, Commissioner. I thank the Commission for its assistance.
PN6
THE COMMISSIONER: Yes. Mr Watson.
PN7
MR WATSON: Thank you, Mr Commissioner, there is nothing further.
PN8
THE COMMISSIONER: Yes. Thank you. The matter is adjourned.
