THE COMMISSIONER: On the last occasion I think it was left to the ASU going to analyse certain results from feedback it was getting from its own members. I think the ball was in the union's court more than in the employer's court. So where are we, Ms White?
PN140
MS WHITE: We put a counter proposal back to Ms Phillips and we met last Friday in Brisbane and certainly have agreed on some other matters. I think we're pretty close on the transitional arrangements. We're going back and forth about some of the wording at some of the levels but we have certainly done a narrowing of the issues.
PN141
There's not too many issues between us and it's a question I guess of where we go. So Ms Phillips has put something to us as of last Friday and I've got to consult again but that shouldn't take me too long. I haven't had the opportunity to do that this week, Commissioner, but I've got a fairly freer week next week and it will be that time that I intend to do that. Ms Phillips I think has got a proposition about when we think we would be able to come back with finality.
PN142
THE COMMISSIONER: Yes, Ms Phillips?
PN143
MS PHILLIPS: Thank you, Commissioner. Yes, we did meet last Friday in response to the proposal that the union gave. I did speak with Ms White on Friday and proposed that perhaps we schedule a face-to-face hearing subject to your availability, say, the first week in December and since the issues that we do have to resolve are a lot less than they once were we think that time would be sufficient to narrow those differences and, of course, we would meet in the meantime and aim to have something to put to you by that date is our proposal.
PN144
THE COMMISSIONER: I see. I'm just looking at some dates. How about Monday, 29 November?
PN145
MS PHILLIPS: I'm actually on leave on that date.
PN146
THE COMMISSIONER: When are you back?
PN147
MS PHILLIPS: I'd be available on either the 30th or the 1st.
PN148
THE COMMISSIONER: What about the 2nd?
PN149
MS PHILLIPS: No.
PN150
THE COMMISSIONER: The 30th you would be?
PN151
MS PHILLIPS: Yes.
PN152
THE COMMISSIONER: In Sydney?
PN153
MS PHILLIPS: Yes, that's fine.
PN154
THE COMMISSIONER: Ms White, how about that?
PN155
MS WHITE: That's fine with me too, Commissioner.
PN156
THE COMMISSIONER: The time suits you both?
PN157
MS WHITE: Any time is fine at the moment for me.
PN158
MS PHILLIPS: Any time is fine with me also.
PN159
THE COMMISSIONER: We will make it 9.30, it's a face-to-face, okay?
PN160
MS PHILLIPS: Okay.
PN161
THE COMMISSIONER: Thank you.
PN162
MS PHILLIPS: Thank you, Commissioner.
PN163
THE COMMISSIONER: We'll send a notice out.
PN164
MS PHILLIPS: Thank you.
PN165
MS WHITE: Thank you.
