Adjudication No. 182 (February 1984) [1984] APC 5

ADJUDICATION No. 182 (February 1984)

By letter of 21 September 1983, Mr K. Ward complains of an item in the Northern Territory News on 16 July 1983 concerning an application by Mr Ward for the registration of a trade union by the Northern Territory Registrar of Trade Unions.

The complaint is misconceived. Mr Ward seems to think that the item was a Press release by the official. In fact it was a report compiled by a reporter of the newspaper after proper inquiry. The reporter says he attempted to check it with Mr Ward, but was unable to make contact. The newspaper says without challenge that the Industrial Registrar has been shown the report and says it was substantially accurate except that it described him as a "court", which he is not, but this would not mislead anyone concerned with the substance of the matter.

The complaint is dismissed.
