ADJUDICATION No. 905

The Press Council has dismissed a complaint against the Gold Coast Bulletin from the President of the American Pit Bull Terrier Association of Queensland.

The president, Charles Hamilton, had originally complained to the Bulletin over an article entitled "Disclaimer at pit bull show" which appeared in the Weekend Bulletin of 7-8 July 1996. After discussion with the Chief-of-Staff the Bulletin published an edited letter from Mr Hamilton under the heading "Don't blame pit bulls" on 16 July 1996.

The Press Council is of the view that the published letter, despite some clumsy editing, addressed the essence of Mr Hamilton's concerns.
