Adjudication No. 907 (February 1997) [1997] APC 8

ADJUDICATION No. 907 (February 1997)

The Australian Press Council has considered a complaint against The Australian about the publication of a letter to the editor from journalist Evan Whitton.

Geoffrey Reading complained that Mr Whitton asserted in a letter about a television program that it was a "simple truth that the late Sir Robert Askin was a crook". Mr Reading also complained that the newspaper had refused to publish his letter disputing Mr Whitton's opinion.

The Council is of the view it would have been desirable for the newspaper to have published Mr Reading's reply.
