Coal Prohibition (Quit Coal) Bill 2019

Purpose
This bill seeks to prohibit the mining, burning and the export and importation of thermal coal in Australia by 2030

1.37 This bill is identical to a bill that was introduced in the House of Representatives on 18 February 2019, and lapsed on 11 April 2019 at the dissolution of the 45th Parliament. The committee raised a number of scrutiny concerns in relation to the earlier bill in Scrutiny Digest 2 of 2019,[22] and reiterates those comments in relation to this bill.
