Purpose
|
This bill seeks to strengthen public confidence in the Commonwealth
Parliament by creating a statutory code of conduct for parliamentarians
and
their staff, a statutory basis for existing parliamentarians' registers of
interests, and creating the roles of Parliamentary
Integrity Adviser and
Parliamentary Standards Commissioner

1.22 This bill is similar to a bill that was introduced in the House of Representatives on 3 December 2018.[20] The committee commented on the bill in Scrutiny Digest 1 of 2019.
1.23 The committee draws senators' attention to its comments in relation to the earlier version of this bill.[21]
