Copyright in the High Court of Australia
MR M.A. ROBINSON: If the Court pleases, I appear for the applicants - the prosecutors in all matters with MR R. NAIR. (instructed by Adrian Joel & Co)
MR J. BASTEN, QC: I appear for the second respondent in each of those matters, your Honour. (instructed by the Australian Government Solicitor)
HER HONOUR: I hold a certificate from the Deputy Registrar who certifies that she has been informed by the solicitor for the first respondent in each of the matters just called, that the first respondent does not wish to be represented at the hearing of these matters and will submit to any order of the Court save as to costs.
Now, can these matters be dealt with together?
MR ROBINSON: Yes, your Honour. They have been settled.
HER HONOUR: And they can be dealt with conveniently before matters 1, 2 and 3 in the list?
MR ROBINSON: Yes, your Honour.
HER HONOUR: Yes, thank you.
MR ROBINSON: I hand up executed short minutes of orders in all 20 matters, your Honour.
HER HONOUR: Thank you. The orders are all the same, are they?
MR ROBINSON: Yes, your Honour.
HER HONOUR: Yes. I do not need to look at them individually?
MR ROBINSON: No, they are all the same.
HER HONOUR: Yes. In each of those matters, by consent, there will be orders in accordance with the short minutes of orders handed up in Court this day and signed by the solicitor for the prosecutor and the solicitor for the second respondent, respectively.
MR ROBINSON: Would your Honour certify for counsel in each matter?
HER HONOUR: Yes, I certify for counsel in each matter.
MR ROBINSON: That is not written on the short minutes.
HER HONOUR: No. In each matter I certify for the attendance of counsel.
MR ROBINSON: If the Court pleases.
AT 9.34 AM THE MATTERS WERE CONCLUDED
