 [2011] NZLLA 558

IN THE MATTER of the Sale of Liquor Act 1989

AND

IN THE MATTER of an application by HARDEEP SINGH GREWAL pursuant to s.118 of the Act for a General Manager’s Certificate

BEFORE THE LIQUOR LICENSING AUTHORITY

Quorum: Mr P M McHaffie

Ms J D Moorhead

DECISION

We have before us an application by Hardeep Singh Grewal for a General Manager’s Certificate.

The Police do not oppose the application. The District Licensing Agency Inspector opposed the application because Mr Grewal, an Indian national, held a student’s visa that only permitted him to work for up to 20 hours a week during vacation periods.

Mr Grewal has now obtained a work visa from Immigration New Zealand and opposition has been withdrawn.

We are satisfied as to the matters to which we must have regard in s.121(1) of the Act and we grant the application. The certificate may issue immediately.

DATED at WELLINGTON this 17th day of June 2011
