IN THE HIGH COURT OF NEW ZEALAND NELSON REGISTRY
CRI-2012-442-1 [2012] NZHC 693
BETWEEN LEON DEREK WOOD Appellant
AND NEW ZEALAND POLICE Respondent
Hearing: 16 April 2012
Counsel: H Boyd-Wilson for Respondent
Judgment: 16 April 2012
ORAL JUDGMENT OF MILLER J
[1] Mr Wood appeals his conviction for careless use of a vehicle.
[2] The appeal has been pending for some time and in a minute of 21 March, Dobson J noted that Mr Wood, who represents himself, had not complied with the requirement to file written submissions and had sought an adjournment on the ground that he was suffering from stress and depression. Justice Dobson granted an adjournment, noting that it is unlikely that the Court would grant any further adjournment given the history of the matter.
[3] The appeal was called before me today. Mr Wood did not appear although he has been given notice of the fixture. In the circumstances his appeal is dismissed.
