ORAL DECISION BY THE AUTHORITY
[1] This is an application by Sirpa Bronwen Siimes for a General Manager’s Certificate. There are a number of criteria to which this Authority must have regard in considering such an application. These criteria are set out in s.121 of the Act.
[2] At the time of the application, Ms Siimes fulfilled the majority of the criteria. She was working at two licensed premises at the time of the application. However, before the Inspector could interview her, one of the businesses closed, and the other changed hands. It appears that Ms Siimes did not continue with her employment. Efforts to contact her ever since have been unsuccessful. There was no objection from the Police, and Ms Siimes had completed an approved course relating to Managers.
[3] There has been no contact between the applicant and the District Licensing Agency Inspector. It is unlikely that Ms Siimes has current work in the hospitality industry in Taranaki, and she has not appeared to support her application.
[4] In these circumstances, the Authority has no option other than to refuse the application.
DATED at WELLINGTON this 6th day of November 2003
