RESERVED DECISION OF THE AUTHORITY
[1] On 25 November 2003, Ms N I Matthews made application for a General Manager’s Certificate. At the time of the application Ms Matthews was working at “Gybe Bar and Restaurant”, where she had been employed since July 2003. Ms Matthews had other experience working at the “Copthorne” in Paihia for two years in a senior position. She had completed a course of training with Hospitality 2000.
[2] The application drew an adverse report from the Police based on the applicant’s previous convictions. Ms Matthews self reported convictions for selling cannabis (1999). In addition, she had convictions for consuming alcohol in a public place (1999), and fighting in a public place (2002).
[3] Checks by the Police with the previous employers were not particularly positive. However, Ms Matthews resigned from her job, and has been unable to be contacted ever since. As a consequence the only reasonable inference is that she is no longer interested in pursuing the application which is accordingly refused.
DATED at WELLINGTON this 2nd day of June 2004
