DECISION

[1] This is an application by G.B.T Holdings Limited for the renewal of its on-licence in respect of premises situated in Cains Terrace, Timaru, known as “Babetttes Leisure Lounge and Rumours Revue Bar”.

[2] The application was filed on or about 4 March 2004. It was opposed by the Police, the Medical Officer of Health, and the District Licensing Agency, on the grounds that the hours of operation in respect of the premises exceeded the hours set out in the Timaru District Council liquor policy.

[3] Prior to the application being set down for a public hearing, the premises were sold. On Wednesday 9 March 2005, an application for a new on-licence was received by the Agency.

[4] On 14 April 2005, a new on-licence was granted in respect of the premises. The new owner is a company known as Candy-Lane Revue Limited, and the premises are to be known as “Rumours Bar and Revue”. The hours of operation requested in the application were till 3.00 am, in line with the Council’s liquor policy. Accordingly, there was no opposition to the application and it was granted on the papers.

[5] The current on-licence in the name of G.B.T Holdings Limited still subsists. Unsuccessful attempts had been made to contact Mr Geoff Tuck, (a director of the company).

[6] At the public hearing there was no appearance by or on behalf of G.B.T Holdings Limited, and clearly there will be no further interest in pursuing the application. Accordingly, it is now refused.

DATED at WELLINGTON this 7th day of October 2005
