ORAL DECISION OF THE AUTHORITY

[1] This is an application by Paul Save pursuant to s.118 of the Act for a General Manager’s Certificate. The criteria to which we must have regard are set out in s.121 of the Act.

[2] Mr Save lodged his application for a General Manager’s Certificate on 4 July 2005. A letter of acknowledgement was sent to him together with a request that he contact the Inspector to arrange a date and time for an interview. All applicants are interviewed by the Wellington District Licensing Agency Inspector to determine their suitability to be the holders of a General Manager’s Certificate, and in particular, to establish their experience, qualifications, and knowledge, of the Sale of Liquor Act 1989.

[3] Mr Save made appointments for interviews on 13 July 2005 and 8 August 2005 which he did not attend. When the District Licensing Agency Inspector made enquiries he discovered that the applicant had ceased his employment and his employer was unable to give any forwarding address. Mr Save had also failed to supply a current reference from his employer. Consequently the Inspector was unable to process Mr Save’s application.

[4] Mr Save has not appeared today to support his application. By his absence we can only conclude that he no longer wishes to pursue his application.

[5] In all the circumstances Mr Save’s application for a General Manager’s Certificate is refused.

DATED at WELLINGTON this 26th day of January 2006
