ORAL DECISION OF THE AUTHORITY

[1] This is an application by Matthew Alan Willson for a General Manager’s Certificate. The position is that Mr Willson applied to renew his certificate in October 2005 but the application was not received within the required timeframe and the application therefore had to be declined.

[2] Accordingly Mr Willson was advised to make a fresh application which he duly did on 28 November 2005. In accordance with the normal procedure of the Palmerston North District Licensing Agency, Mr Willson was sent a letter asking him to make an appointment for an interview. The interview process is required by the Inspector to establish suitability and knowledge of the Act.

[3] Mr Willson did not reply to the invitation and in February of this year his employer was rung. At that time advice was received that the applicant had gone to live in Australia. Because he was unavailable for interview adverse reports followed.

[4] In the event Mr Willson has not appeared in support of his application and indeed the letter of hearing was returned on the basis that he had shifted and his current address was not known.

[5] In those circumstances we have drawn the inference that Mr Willson is no longer interested in pursuing his application and it is accordingly declined.

DATED at WELLINGTON this 4th day of August 2006
