ORAL DECISION OF THE AUTHORITY
[1] Before the Authority is an application by Hazel Riwa Uerata for the renewal of her General Manager’s Certificate. Ms Uerata has held a certificate since 2002.
[2] The application was received by the Agency on 9 March 2006. Ms Uerata was advised of the necessity to obtain a Licence Controller Qualification. This followed the amendment to the Act coming into force on 1 April 2006. Pursuant to the amendment neither the Agency nor the Authority was in a position to grant or renew a General Manager’s Certificate without the production of the Licence Controller Qualification.
[3] There has been no qualification presented and although Ms Uerata rang the Agency to advise that she would be unable to attend, there has been no other explanation for the lack of the qualification.
[4] In accordance with the Act the renewal cannot be granted and is accordingly refused.
DATED at WELLINGTON this 1st day of March 2007
