ORAL DECISION OF THE AUTHORITY

[1] Before the Authority is an application by Jessica Anne O’Neil for a General Manager’s Certificate.

[2] The application was received by the District Licensing Agency in August of last year. At that time Ms O’Neil was working in licensed premises known as the “Alpine Bar” at the Turoa Ski Resort. Judging by the references, the sale of liquor from these premises is not significant.

[3] A number of character references were submitted with the application. The District Licensing Agency Inspector wrote to Ms O’Neil on a number of occasions requesting a copy of her Licence Controller Qualification. This is a requirement that results from the amendment to the Act, which came into force on 1 April last year. Neither the Agency nor the Authority can issue or renew a General Manager’s Certificate without a copy of this qualification being supplied to the Agency.

[4] There has been no further response received from the applicant. It is unclear whether or not she is still involved in the industry. At any event there has been no appearance by her at the hearing. Accordingly, we draw the inference that she is no longer interested in pursuing her application.
[5] Accordingly it is refused.
